Hong Kong presents film highlights and business opportunities in Warsaw
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) hosted the opening film screening of the “Hong Kong Cinema in Motion” section on 16 November (Warsaw time) as part of the 16th Five Flavours Asian Film Festival in Warsaw, taking place from 16 to 23 November 2022 (Warsaw time).
Ms Jenny Szeto, Director of HKETO Berlin expressed in the welcoming remarks her appreciation for the continued partnership with the Film Festival, which included a section dedicated to Hong Kong, providing an excellent platform to showcase the city’s rich cinematographic traditions to the wider European audience.
The Director also shared the latest updates about Hong Kong at a reception after the screening, including the lifting of the quarantine requirements for entering Hong Kong as well as the Chief Executive’s 2022 Policy Address themed “Charting a Brighter Tomorrow for Hong Kong”, which gave an outlook on the direction and priorities of Hong Kong’s economic development and prospects for this Government’s term.
Among other things, the Policy Address puts emphasis on supporting Hong Kong’s cultural development. “Among other things, we will set up a dedicated Culture Commission to formulate a blueprint to guide the sector’s development, significantly expand our arts and cultural facilities, as well as establish a fund for staging international arts and cultural events in Hong Kong”, the Director concluded.
HKETO Berlin also organised a business luncheon on 17 November (Warsaw time) under the theme “Potential Cooperation Opportunities between Hong Kong and Poland along the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area” for the Polish business community. The Director introduced the latest developments of Hong Kong and provided insights on Hong Kong-Polish relations and potential business opportunities. She also shed light on the city’s strategic advantages as well as the benefits for Polish businesses.
The Greater Bay Area is one of the most dynamic and economically vibrant regions in the world. Companies from Central Europe including Poland can utilise Hong Kong as a gateway to this vast market with unlimited business opportunities. With its business-friendly environment and open economy, the free flow of capital and information and a huge talent pool, Hong Kong attracts organisations and enterprises of different scales from all over the world.
