Award-winning Hong Kong films shown at Red Lotus Asian Film Festival in Vienna
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) supported the screening of two Hong Kong films under the dedicated HONG KONG PROGRAMME at the third edition of the Red Lotus Asian Film Festival, which took place from April 25 to 28 (Vienna time) in Vienna.
The Festival showcases outstanding Asian movies, and the HONG KONG PROGRAMME this year presented two award-winning cinematic masterpieces, "All Shall Be Well" and "The Goldfinger".
On the occasion of the opening screening of "All Shall Be Well", the Director of the HKETO Berlin, Ms Jenny Szeto, thanked the Festival organiser for bringing Hong Kong films to Europe and highlighted the vibrancy of the film industry in Hong Kong. "Hong Kong has always been proud of its East-meets-West culture, where modernity blends with tradition. The openness and diversity in Hong Kong empower our filmmakers to delve into a wide range of issues, crafting extraordinary stories that offer fresh and unique perspectives," said Ms Szeto.
She added that the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is committed to supporting the sustainable development of the film industry not only through financial support but also fostering global exchanges and enhancing exposures. For example, the Film Development Fund recently launched a Hong Kong-Europe-Asian Film Collaboration Funding Scheme to subsidise film projects co-produced by filmmakers from Hong Kong and European/Asian countries.
