European premiere in Dusseldorf

Having presented his work at renowned places such as the Asia Triennial Manchester, Moscow Biennale of Young Art, Amos Anderson Museum in Helsinki and Today Art Museum in Beijing as well as being the inaugural winner of the Art Basel-BMW Art Journey Award 2015, Hong Kong artist Samson Young stages an exhibition at the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf from 17 December 2016 to 5 March 2017.

Young is known for not only designing music but also combining installations, performances, drawings, walks, and films. “A darker theme keeps me here, I’ll make a broken music” is his first institutional solo exhibition in Europe. Sounds and music are used as a vehicle for the reappraisal and representation of historical events, but also build the core of an independent aesthetic experience that requires no further explanations. Being in Dusseldorf at the beginning and at the end of his exhibition to interact with his audience, Samson Young is giving live performances at the Kunsthalle as well. HKETO Berlin is sponsoring his work in Dusseldorf.
