German and Asian business met in Hong Kong

Hong Kong was honored to be the host city of the 15th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) – the flagship event in the region for business leaders, executives and government representatives to discuss and promote economic relations between Germany and Asia. Over a thousand top business and government leaders participated in the 3-day event running in Hong Kong until 5 November 2016. Among them were: German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, Australian Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, Sri Lanka Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Hong Kong’s Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So. Highlights included a Ministers’ Dialogue as well as panel discussions on areas such as the Future of the World Economy, Mobility and Urbanisation - Cities of the Future, Value-Driven Business Strategies and National Economic Policies.

As highlighted by Secretary Gregory So at the conference, Hong Kong being the super-connector with strong financial, professional services, logistics and trade sectors, and expertise in doing business in the Asian region, is the natural partner for German businesses to expand in the Asia-Pacific region.
