Through the support of HKETO Berlin, audiences in Hungary, Switzerland and Austria enjoyed the privilege of watching a great variety of Hong Kong productions at renowned film festivals this autumn. CineFest International Film Festival in Miskolc, Hungary, presented two Hong Kong films under the “Hong Kong Film Days” in mid-September;

Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland featured a selection of four Hong Kong productions under the dedicated “Window Hong Kong” in late September and early October; and finally, Vienna International Film Festival in Austria screened two Hong Kong productions in late October and early November.

All three festivals were graced by visits of important players of the Hong Kong film industry, namely a Create Hong Kong delegation in Miskolc, filmmaker Ann Hui in Zurich, and filmmaker Derek Chiu in Vienna. If action or romance, if comedy or drama – Hong Kong’s expertise in storytelling and production was visible across genres.

“We will promote further development of the local film industry, and nurture more talents. We also welcome film production professionals from around the world to work in Hong Kong”, said Bill Li, Director of HKETO Berlin.
