The Fraser Institute published the Economic Freedom of the World 2024 Annual Report on October 16. Hong Kong ranks as the world's freest economies among 165 economies, up by one place from last year. Among the five areas of assessment, Hong Kong ranks top in "Freedom to trade internationally" and "Regulation", and its ranking in "Sound money" rises to third globally.

From July 10, non-Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents wishing to visit Mainland China, will be eligible for a card-type document (Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (non-Chinese Citizens)), allowing them to use self-service clearance at Mainland China control points, enhancing clearance efficiency.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, will depart for Geneva, Switzerland, on July 1 to attend the plenary meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council as the Deputy Head of China's delegation.
